Conversations with the King of Kings

I have been spending time in God’s Word, in prayer, and journaling almost daily for nearly 13 years now.  It has been quite a journey!  But in late 2020, the Holy Spirit began communicating to me differently.  While before it had been mostly by highlighting things in Scripture, emphasizing certain themes, or providing feelings or senses about things or decisions or events, He began to communicate with incredible clarity and more conversationally.  He has ways of helping me to know when it is Him and when it is not.  Sometimes He says a little, sometimes a lot, sometimes nothing at all other than “Nothing today, enjoy your coffee!”.

I don’t pretend to understand how it works, but I will say that it is pretty awesome and by far the part of each day that I look forward to the most.  The Spirit has granted me some clarity into how He works in communicating with me.  When I asked for understanding, He said: “I am not giving you any divine revelation.  That has already occurred [in Scripture].  My Spirit is taking all you know and have learned, and He is sorting and distilling it down to its most simple and correct form.  Your mind is filled with my Word and with knowledge.  I am simply drawing from it those things that you need to know and write.  Trust me.”  So, He seems to work like something of a super computer, taking copious amounts of raw data in my mind, together with His influence and insight, to break it all down into simple, coherent explanations of complex issues and questions.

God has also now been clear that I am to start posting our conversations.  I have no idea why.  But I have learned (through much difficultly unfortunately, as I can be quite stubborn) that it is better to simply obey.  So I am going to start posting our conversations.  I speak in italics, and our Lord in bold print. UPDATE: At times, the “conversation” is more of a Spirit-inspired thought or narrative, in which case it is expressed in regular print.

Blessings,

Greg

  1. My wife and I have been inspired by your writing. They became a routine meditation for us. I notice you haven’t written this month, I hope all is well.

    1. Hey thanks for reaching out, and thank you for saying that. All is well, the Spirit didn’t give any “blogable” conversations for a bit, though He has started back over the past week (posted one today). Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas!
